Volunteers! Yes.. you're the best! Sooooo many exciting moving parts last Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at the pantry! Kim, in the picture above, is transporting one of several flats of food from the large Manna delivery to restock our shelves. Volunteers restocked the shelves, with food from Manna, donations delivered to our pantry lobby, our garden, and regular deliveries On Saturday, about 38+ volunteers arrived before 7:45 and helped til the last neighbor was served.
We were fortunate to have a Pharmacy Intern and Pharmacist from UNC Asheville offering blood pressure and blood glucose checks to our neighbors. They volunteer at our pantry several times a year at no cost to our "neighbors." During the month of September, St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville donated bags of food each week for a total of 450 pounds. We appreciate their support given throughout the month.
The Mills River Publix donated over 700 pounds of meat, pastries and bread. Flavor First donated five cases of tomatoes. City Bakery and Bimbos donated bread.. We collected several bags of donated food items from our community. Thank you for taking the time to drop it off at the pantry.
Saturday, we welcomed 175 families representing 616 individuals. There were 7 new families representing 27 individuals. Thank you, volunteers and our Spanish and Ukraine interpreters for your assistance with shopping.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
