Just like the Postal Service...Neither rain, snow, sleet, or hail will deter us from opening on a Saturday morning for food distribution. Thank you to the hardy souls who live close by and could safely help us distribute food to 115 "neighbors." However, in the event that we were unable to open, our volunteer coordinator would email all volunteers who receive the newsletter, a notice of closure. Christ School students were among some of the volunteers who were able to assist us.
With the recent rains, our garden is flourishing with lettuce and collards. Our beets, cauliflower, snap peas, and carrots are planted in the hoophouses and flourishing. Hope to you can join us next week in the garden at 4:00.
The Mills River Publix donated over 750 pounds of meat, pastries and bread. Flavor First donated five cases of tomatoes. City Bakery and Bimbos donated bread. We collected several bags of donated food items from our community. Thank you for taking the time to drop it off at the pantry.
Saturday, we welcomed 115 families representing 424 individuals. There were 4 new families representing 21 individuals. Thank you, volunteers and our Spanish and Ukraine interpreters for your assistance with shopping.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
