A SHOUTOUT to our pantry grant team. Kim Potthoff has been working with the Glass Foundation on a grant for $40,000 for the construction of a 20 x 30 Pavilion by the garden with electricity. We currently have eleven groups that visit and volunteer at the garden. The Pavilion will be helpful to our child and youth development programs. Construction begins on Wednesday and continuing through Friday.
Our garden is thriving with carrots, beets, lettuce, collards, and snap peas Faithful volunteers have helped with mulching and weeding! A picture is included showing the stages of our lettuce. Hope you can join us Thursday in the garden at 4:30.
The Mills River Publix donated over 760 pounds of meat, pastries and bread. Flavor First donated five cases of tomatoes. City Bakery and Bimbos donated bread. We collected several bags of donated food items from our community. Thank you for taking the time to drop it off at the pantry.
Saturday, we welcomed 163 Households representing 581 individuals. There were 16 New Households representing 55 individuals. Thank you, volunteers and our Spanish and Ukraine interpreters for your assistance with shopping.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
