Our garden is thriving with carrots, beets, lettuce, collards, radishes, cauliflower, and snap peas. With cooler weather, Doug reminds us that it takes longer for the crops to mature. He will reach out to us later in the fall to harvest. Speaking of the garden, it's worth a drive by to see the progress of the pavilion. A core group has worked faithfully over the last week to raise this structure from the "slab" up!
Just can't quite find the words to express our appreciation to the number of volunteers on our campus last week especially as noted in the garden and pantry. Pick-up folks for the milk, Sav-Mor food, Flavor First produce, Wal-Mart, Publix food, MilCo Milk, Savor Milk, Bimbos Bread and Mini Manna delivery. Volunteers arrived from Christ School, Wednesday and Friday stocking shelves, and Saturday, the large team for food distribution. Rebecca, at Publix, sorted the produce that is picked up on Fridays for us. .........and the "Icing on the Cake" was the amazing Trunk or Treat Fall Festival in the pantry parking lot! A Great Time was had by all!
The Mills River Publix donated over 550 pounds of meat, pastries and bread. Flavor First donated five cases of tomatoes. City Bakery and Bimbos donated bread. We collected several bags of donated food items from our community. Thank you for taking the time to drop it off at the pantry.
Saturday, we welcomed 141 Households representing 540 individuals. There were 13 New Households representing 52 individuals. Thank you, volunteers and our Spanish and Ukraine interpreters for your assistance with shopping.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
