All Hands on Deck! That was the call before our regular gathering time around 7:45. We began assembling the volunteers around 7:20 who had arrived early and started our "neighbor shopping." The Pantry and Church parking lots were full and cars were lined up on Old Airport Road. Volunteers were stationed inside the pantry for regular shopping and other volunteers were located in the parking lot assisting with the distribution of our Thanksgiving meal, assisting with traffic, distributing numbers, and returning carts to pantry. Jill greeted at least 253 neighbors and connected those who were new to the pantry with Betsy, the registration volunteer. Debbie, announced numbers, offered snacks, and answered questions. Fred's team entered any new information and checked shoppers in. Heather helped connect neighbors with a shopper after they signed in. Extra volunteers were stationed inside and outside to distribute the extra items. The carry out crew also offered 10-pound bags of potatoes and loaded them onto the grocery carts.
Saturday, we welcomed 253 families representing 896 individuals. There were 23 new families representing 80 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful! Thank You Tom, Vickie, and Hillary for answering the call!
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
