Walnut Cove Members Association's mission since its founding is volunteering to strengthen nonprofit organizations in our community. Walnut Cove members have volunteered thousands of hours to local charities. Our pantry has been awarded a grant to purchase food throughout 2026. Several residents of Walnut Cove volunteer regularly with us. We give thanks for the generosity of the WCMA – members, volunteers, corporate partners, and grantees that make all this possible for local non-profits.
Deerfield Retirement Community residents sponsored a Food Drive for the community. The Food Drive was so successful that there was food for the community and 790 pounds of food for our pantry. We have seen a significant increase in families with food insecurity visiting our pantry recently. This will help ensure we can continue to provide 11 meals or 3 1/2 days of food each week.
The Lutheran Church of the Nativity was awarded a grant by Thrivent to purchase Peanut Butter, Jelly, and Beef Stew – also known as the PB & J Project. We'll contribute plenty of bread for this project! Yum! Thank you for helping us reduce food insecurity in our community. Our neighbors are enjoying the food items from Ingles. Ingles is continuing to share the Holiday Meal Bags with us through Christmas.
Saturday, we welcomed 94 families representing 351 individuals. There were 11 new families representing 33 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
