Welcome Spring! Thanks to Linda Wozniak, we are Springing right into celebrating National Nutrition Month. Linda has provided an excellent display in our gathering room offering handouts on latest healthy nutritional trends. Speaking of healthy choices, WLOS, Carolina Kitchen’s own Chef Martha prepared three tasty dishes that can be viewed periodically on the Carolina Kitchen segment at noon. Chef Martha prepared Tomato Bam Jam, Tzatziki Sauce, and Beans & Greens. Recipes are available on WLOS website.
I mentioned a mission group, Faith Alive, from Hickory in last week's newsletter. Just wanted to share this week some of the activities they participated while at the pantry and garden. They stocked shelves and made welcome cards for our neighbors. In Doug’s newsletter he shares pics of the group mulching, weeding, and covering plants with tarps.
What an incredible group! BIG...BIG...BIG news!!! WNC Bridge funded a refrigerator to store our bountiful garden gifts! It was installed on Friday, Look for pics next week. We have garden lettuce that will be harvested on Thursday!
Saturday, we welcomed 142 families representing 502 individuals. There were 3 new families representing 8 family members. Thank you, all volunteers and our Spanish and Ukraine interpreters for your assistance with shopping.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
