On Your Mark! Get Set! GO! Doug, Dick, Jack, Kim, and Tom labored for hours extending a one-inch water line down the length of the garden and installing 2 high quality hose reels. Could you help with the watering a half-hour a week? Our collards, beets, sprouting broccoli, carrots and lettuce get extremely thirsty on these warm days!
On Saturday, we welcomed 134 families representing 525 individuals. There were 10 new families representing 35 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!
On Sunday afternoon at Ardenwoods, a group of over 25 walkers gathered to walk for the Hunger Coalition of Henderson County’s fundraiser to help alleviate food insecurity in our community. A thank you is extended to Carol Romine and Pat Jollie for organizing the event.
The 43rd Annual Henderson County Hunger Coalition 2025 Hunger Walk is on Saturday September 20 at 8:00 a.m. Money raised for the walk is distributed to local non-profit agencies for hunger relief in Henderson County. Calvary Food Pantry received $8,000 this past year. For more information, contact Betty Robbins for the Hendersonville walk on September 20th.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community.

The Lord’s Acre of Fletcher – September 16, 2025
In two weeks, we will move our (almost) weekly Thursday sessions to 4:30 p.m. to accommodate shorter days and cooler temperatures. If the later time has kept you away, we’d love to see you!
Easier Water Access -- We have upgraded our water lines to the garden in two ways. 1) we have extended a one-inch line down the length of the garden, and 2) we have installed two high-quality hose reels to accommodate the hand-watering of seeds and new transplants. (Drip irrigation does the heavy lifting in the garden.) No more tripping over half-coiled water hoses or dragging around a 150 ft, 75-pound, hose. Note that there are four bracketed posts at row end so the hose reels can be easily moved where needed. Thanks to Dick Ackman and crew for making this happen.
We still need hand waterers to water seeds and ground and transplants. One half-hour several days a week for around three weeks.
Thanks to Last Week’s Volunteer Groups – Thanks to Christ School students and volunteers from the local Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They cleared the blueberry patch and pulled up spent tomatoes and prepared hoop house beds for fall plantings.
