Food Pantry – August 23, 2025 -- Timing is everything. Last week we welcomed a room full of neighbors from the community. Thanks to the St. Andrew Gleaners who donated baskets of apples and peaches, we had quite a bit of fruit to distribute. This week they gleaned lots of russet potatoes. St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville donated over 223 pounds of food from their congregation. They also included a monetary donation which we used to purchase milk.  Many thanks to the volunteers who stayed until every family was served!

It is with appreciation I share with you this message from Food Lion: During a time when the need is critical, we thank Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for providing $3,000 to support our neighbors experiencing hunger. Together we're providing more than access to fresh and nutritious food; we're giving them hope.

Saturday, we welcomed 150 families representing 543 individuals. There were 8 new families representing 38 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!

On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community.

 The Lord’s Acre of Fletcher – August 26, 2025

Record Watermelon Haul -- Over the last two weeks, the Lord’s Acre garden passed on to pantry neighbors 1,248 pounds of “Mini-Love” watermelons, 221 in number. So far, the garden has produced 3,495 pounds of produce in 2025, all going to Calvary Food Pantry. Last year’s total was a whopping 4,388 pounds. Given our heavy fall production, we might just beat it.
