Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue! Three days of volunteers were needed for Mini-Manna Delivery, Stocking Shelves, and Food Distribution. All three days were covered this week! What a great community of volunteers we have ensuring we can continue to help feed our neighbors each week.
Highlights of the Week:
· We harvested several hundred pounds of fresh produce from the garden. We'll have some totals for you next week. Notice the pictures of the Marnero and Purple Zebra tomatoes. Doug planted these from seeds in the hoop house and they definitely thrived!
· We received a box of home-grown mangoes from Florida from Susan McDuffie's daughter. Our neighbors are so appreciative of fresh fruit.
· A youth group from Salisbury, NC worked in the garden and pantry this week as part of the Lutheran Disaster Relief. There was also time for the youth to learn about the labyrinth.
We welcomed 96 families representing 332 individuals. There were seven new families representing 23 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.

Gardens of Hope Series 2 Next Tuesday -- The Advent Health Gardens of Hope project for cancer survivors begins its second series of sessions next Tuesday, July 15, in the Lord's Acre garden. The purpose of the project is to experience the healing aspects of gardening, especially when done WITH others and FOR others. Participants work in the garden and learn the basics of starting a garden in their own context.
Lutheran Disaster Relief Sponsors Youth in the Garden -- Two dozen high school youth from North Carolina and Pennsylvania braved the heat to weed and mulch in the garden, have some quiet time in the labyrinth, and learn about the ministry of the Calvary Food Pantry. They are here supporting the work of agencies who serve those on the margins and those who were impacted by Hurricane Helene in WNC.
