Some of you may remember the children's nursery rhyme, "Rain, Rain, Go Away....." We have been blessed by an abundance of rain and warm (hot) days resulting in a bumper crop of produce…and weeds! So…Weeds, Weeds, Go Away! Come Again Another Day!! Come help us "gather" weeds on Thursday nights at 6:30. Just last Thursday night 237 pounds of produce was harvested from our garden. Our "neighbors" were thrilled to receive a variety of fresh veggies.
Michael Neal, Pantry volunteer, provided us with a cart filled with healthy cereal. He was able to make available these items through a Thrivent Grant. Thrivent offers a grant for clients to give back to causes they care about with outreach programs to help make a difference. We appreciate Michael selecting the Pantry to be the recipient of such a generous grant.
**A youth group from Palo Alto, CA worked in the garden and pantry this week as part of the Lutheran Disaster Relief. There was also time for the youth to learn about the labyrinth.
We welcomed 117 families representing 397 individuals. There were four new families representing 16 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
