We seem to have gotten here fast-- the last Sunday before Lent! The prelude is what becomes more like a 4-voice fugue, a setting by J.S.Bach of the choral, "We All Believe in One True God", which text is the Nicene Creed. I will play the actual choral upon which it is based, first.
Our processional hymn is 20th century, one we have sung, but not in a while. It's "Christ upon the mountain peak stands alone in glory blazing", 129. The Gospel hymn is much older (19th c.) with an 18th c. text, you may note--"Come, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove", 512.
Our anthem is a favorite of many and is based on Isaiah 11: 6-9, "Creation Will Be at Peace"; adapted words are by J. Paul Williams, and music is by Anna Laura Page (20th c. American).
Communion hymns are "Forgive our sins as we forgive" (674), and "Strengthen for service, Lord" (312).
Closing, we will sing Erik Routley's popular "Go forth for God; go to the world in peace", 347.
The postlude will be Jonathan Reuss's setting of "Alleluia! Sing to Jesus". As you may remember, Mr. Reuss is a successful contemporary American composer and church musician.
