The prelude is based on what I think is a familiar hymn tune to most, "This Is My Father's World". The text is in our hymnal (651) but with an entirely different tune. The setting I'll play is by the American and most popular composer among church musicians, Dale Wood (late 20th-early 21st century).
Our processional hymn is "Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim" (535), a well known 18th century tune, with text by Charles Wesley. Also from the 18th century is our Gospel hymn, "In Your mercy, Lord, you called me" (706), I think both well known and loved.
Our anthem is "Communion Prayer" by Allen Pote (b.1945),, a very prolific American church music composer, not to be confused with the British Allen Pope! The text of the "prayer" will of course be in the bulletin.
Both communion hymns compliment the Gospel reading-- 439 and 307.
Closing, we will sing "Jesus calls us; o'er the tumult of our life's wild, restless sea", to the tune of 550, from "Southern Harmony". Yes, there IS another familiar tune, not in our hymnal!
The postlude is a Paul Manz (20th century American) setting of the hymn "Earth and All Stars" (hymn 412).
