Sunday's prelude will be a arrangement of "I am the bread of life" (hymn 335) by the contemporary American organist/composer Ron Schmoltze (b. 1935), who graduated from the Oberlin School of Music. Everyone knows the hymn!
The processional hymn is "Morning has broken" (8), and the Gospel hymn is the old time favorite, "Rock of ages" (685). At the offertory we will sing hymn 522,"Glorious things of Thee are spoken"; the congregation should join in the singing!
Communion hymns are also well known-- "Thou, at Thy first Eucharist did pray" (315), and "Jerusalem the golden" (624). Closing, we will sing "Holy Father great Creator, source of mercy, love, and peace" (368).
The postlude will be Charles Callahan's setting of "O Praise Ye the Lord" (hymn 432). Mr. Callahan, a very popular church music composer, choral director ane organist, (1951-2023) was a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
