The prelude is "Meditation Religeuse" by the French organist and composer, Henri Mulet (1878-1967), who wrote in the neo-romantic style. The piece has a lilting melody that is hopefully conducive to meditation!
Our processional hymn, 488, is "Be thou my vision", the popular Irish ballad melody. Most of the day's hymns relate to the Gospel reading from Luke. The Gospel hymn itself is the simple but beautiful 19th century hymn, "Sing, my soul, His wondrous love", 467.
At the offertory we will sing the 20th century hymn, "This is the hour of banquet and song" (317), another beautiful melody, this by Sidney Watson.
Communion hymns are, first the favorite of many, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God" (711), and "O day of God, draw nigh in beauty and in power" (601).
Closing, we will sing "Judge eternal, throned in splendor" (596), a familiar but old 17th century melody with a great and more recent text.
For the postlude, I will play Ludwig Boslet's "Sortie Festivo", another piece in the neo-romantic style.
