Save the Date! Our Second Hoop House & Garden Blessing will be held on June 11, 2025. More information and sign up to follow.

Never a dull moment at the Pantry! Last Saturday several Christ School students assisted us in helping to make our inventory area more efficient.  Items were shifted about, like the diapers, etc., to make food items more assessable for restocking on busy distribution days.

Volunteer Spotlight this week: Ed & Teri Smith and Kim Potthoff. Ed and Teri are from St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville. Teri was instrumental in working with us to be the recipients of the food drive the church held in the fall. We received hundreds of pounds of food that we immediately placed on our shelves for distribution. Teri & Ed enjoyed giving out the produce for a long time and now volunteer bi-monthly offering meat to our neighbors. Kim serves on our Pantry Board as Treasurer and is Senior Warden at Calvary Episcopal Church. He is always willing to assist in other pantry opportunities by serving on the Grant Team, helping on Manna delivery days, stocking shelves on Friday, and Saturday assisting with carry-out. Occasionally you can find him plucking on his guitar. He also finds time to help with our church campus and is part of the crew that built the first hoop house.

We welcomed 106 families representing 378 individuals and eleven new families. The new families represent a total of fourteen family members.  We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!

On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.

News from The Lord’s Acre of Fletcher: 120 cucumber plants aching to get in the ground. Another 100 pounds of collards ready for picking. After weather cancelations Thursday and again Tuesday (the Gardens of Hope group), we are behind in the garden.

So, Thursday (May 15) at 4:30pm, we’ll hit the ground running, planting cucumbers in the fields and picking collards. I hope you’ll come. We need as many hands as possible.
