Holiday Cheer is rampant at the Pantry! Lois and her sister prepared tables filled with decorations, bows, and wrapping paper for our neighbors. Items, neighbors selected, will be useful as the coming week is our toy distribution. What a surprise it was for one neighbor to receive a 7 foot pre-lit tree! The Apple Valley Woodworkers of Henderson County invited our pantry to receive some of their handcrafted wooden toys. Among some of the treasures were hand- quilted blankets for the stuffed dolls and wooden dinosaurs and trucks with moveable parts.
Manna has relocated to Airport Road. We began receiving by-weekly deliveries this week. Onions and potatoes were delivered which could make a tasty vegetable soup with the accompanying items of diced tomatoes, corn, and beans we offer. We are grateful to the Childs family who delivered over 400 pounds of sweet potatoes. On Thursday night, a local Girl Scout Troop met at the Pantry and made cards for our neighbors. They learned about the pantry and helped stock the shelves.
Michael, Pantry volunteer, provided us with a cart filled with cereal. He was able to make available these items through a Thrivent Grant. Thrivent offers grants to give back to causes clients care about through outreach programs. We appreciate Michael selecting the Pantry to be the recipient of such a generous grant.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your support means the world to us! Without it, we would not be able to have the impact we do in our community.
