Helene...How do we reflect on a storm that is described as catastrophic, unprecedented, Biblical, and the worst ever storm in our region?! Then a "flood "of activity continued all week at the pantry. Some of the donations arrived from Murfreesboro, TN, Louisiana, Pawley's Island, SC, Durham and Sanford, NC. Beyond all Borders donated Weber grills and Ingles a pallet of lettuce. A handful of volunteers braved the drive to the pantry on Sunday the 29th for food distribution. On Saturday, Oct. 5th we welcomed 89 households, representing 366 individuals and twelve new neighbors.
Without our volunteers from area churches and the community at large, we would not have been able to receive donations, stock the shelves and distribute food this week. DeAnn says "The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference of others." The passion and dedication our volunteers bring to the pantry, emphasizes the impact that is made in our community.
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart.
