A Conversation with the Rev. Jim Dahlin

What do we mean when we say “racist”? Aren’t all people prejudiced in some way? Why can’t we just ignore racial differnces and live in a “color blind” society? These are a few of the questions Fr. Jim Dahlin helps us grapple with in this discussion.

So often, white people turn to people of color and ask them to educate us on their experience. The impulse to learn more is good, but the asking Black people to do the work of teaching white people can be an unfair burden. Through his life experiences and extensive study, Fr. Jim has amassed a framework of language and insights that can help other white people better understand the realities of systemic racism as we try to better equip ourselves for the work of reconciliation.
