The prelude is a David Lasky setting of the hymn "That Priceless Grace", which is not in our hymnal, and it is my understanding this originated in Ghana.  One can check out the text as well as the tune on You Tube, of course.  Mr. Lasky resides in New England and is involved in the Catholic Church, and has become quite popular as a composer in the world of church music.

Our opening hymn, 533, is "How wondrous and great Thy works, God of praise!", a well known tune attributed to Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of the better known Joseph Haydn.  This tune is used for several texts, including in our hymnal, 637, "How firm a foundation" (which itself has the alternate tune, 636, which we sang 2 weeks ago).

The Gospel hymn is the well loved "And now, O Father, mindful of the love that bought us", 337, a great 19th century hymn.

Our anthem is a setting many of you may recognize; the text is Psalm 130 ("Out of the depths....").  The music is by the 20th-21st century distinguished Lutheran organist, composer, and teacher, Paul Manz (d.1908).

During communion Lynn Bailey will play harp settings of 2 popular Lenten hymns, "O sacred head now wounded" and "Were you there", by contemporaries Hugh Allison and Rees-Rohrbacher, respectively.

Closing, we will sing hymn 686, "Come Thou fount of every blessing", which has remained popular for over 2 centuries!

The postlude is an Alexander Matthews (American, 1879-1973) setting of another centuries old but incredibly popular hymn, "Jesus shall reign" (544 in our hymnal).
