The prelude for this Sunday's Lessons and Carols service is a simple arrangement by Willard Irving Nevins of a Cesar Franck tune entitled "Noel Angevin".  Mr Nevins, American, was active in the first half of the 20th century and part of what was known as the "Guilmant School", which was neo-romantic and leaned to the French influence (which included Cesar Franck, of course).

We will sing mostly Christmas carols that we have not sung yet in this year's services, and ones I think people really enjoy (though some of them aren't what one hears blasted in retail stores).  You might take the time to check out the notes in the hymnal as they come up — or check them out later!

Our choir is "on break" this week, and we have a number who have been out of town this season.  Although most will return for Sunday, we still won't sing an anthem but invite the congregation to sing hymn 92 with us — "On this day earth shall ring".  It's a very old but lively tune!

The postlude is a Robert Hobby "Fanfare" arrangement of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing".

Don't forget the service is a "combined" service at 9:30!
